A SQL workspace over all of your cloud data — cost, resources, tags, waste findings, recommendations and budgets — with Azure and AWS reachable from the same query. Now in public preview.

New: OptiQL (public preview)

• Query your cloud data in SQL. One workspace over cost, resources, tags, waste findings, recommendations and budgets, across Azure and AWS in the same query.
• Start from an example. Ready-made queries for common questions, such as top services, untagged resources, waste by category and tax by month, load with one click. The schema browser explains every table and column.
• See the answer as a chart. Switch any result between a table, bar, line, share or single-value view, and copy or download it as CSV.
• Save and share queries. Keep a query to yourself, share it with named colleagues, or publish it to everyone in your organisation. Shared queries run exactly as their author wrote them.
• Safe by design. Every query runs read-only against an isolated copy of your own data, never against the live database.

Improved

• Invoice tax is shown on Billed periods. Azure adds VAT when the invoice is issued, so it never reaches a billing export or the cost API. Where a period’s cost data has no tax lines, the Tax column now shows the tax stated on the invoice itself — for most Azure agreements the only place the figure exists. AWS invoice tax is read the same way.
• Tax Analytics explains an empty page. When no tax is reported for the selected range, the page now says why — Azure reports cost before tax — and points to Billed periods, instead of leaving a zero that looks like missing data.

A new view that sets each cloud invoice next to the cost CloudOptify tracked for the same scope, now in public preview. Alongside it, the savings figures across the portal now agree with each other.

New: Billed periods (public preview)

• Your invoices next to your tracked cost. A new tab on Spend shows, for each closed billing period, what Azure and AWS invoiced, what CloudOptify tracked for the same scope, and the difference.
• Differences only when they’re real. Periods still in progress, invoices that cover more accounts than you track, and credits applied on the invoice itself, such as a Visual Studio monthly credit, are recognised and explained rather than reported as mismatches.
• Clear about where each figure comes from. Each connection shows whether its figures come from a billing export (invoice-grade) or the cost API (an estimate), and whether invoices are linked.
• Missing access? We tell you exactly what to grant. If CloudOptify can’t read a connection’s invoices, the tab names the precise read-only role or permission, and new AWS connections include it from the start.

Improved

• One definition of potential savings. The dashboard and group reports now count savings the same way: dismissed and snoozed items are left out, amounts in other currencies are converted, and a resource flagged by more than one check is counted once.
• Credits and refunds kept apart. Refunds are now reported separately from promotional credits, in cost breakdowns and in SQL.
• Reservation purchases match the invoice. When comparing with invoices, an upfront reservation or savings-plan purchase counts in the month it was billed. Spend and the other views still spread it over its term.

Fixed

• FinOps summary counts only open findings. The summary could include resolved and dismissed findings, so it showed far more findings than the list below it.
• Carbon estimate no longer shows 0 kg. The carbon figure now reflects your actual spend.
• AWS syncs from a Cost & Usage Report are recorded. Connections using a CUR now log each sync, so their status and history stay current.
• Scans covered by an Azure billing export no longer show as failed in the scan details when they succeeded.

This release is about trusting the numbers. Cost figures are more accurate where billing exports overlap, cloud connections now explain themselves instead of going quiet, and anything that needs your attention comes and finds you.

Cost accuracy

• No more double-counted months. If two billing exports delivered the same month — easily done when an export is recreated or a broader one is added alongside an older one — that month’s cost was being added twice. We now use the most recent delivery for each account and month, on both Azure and AWS.
• The current month is labelled as unfinished. Spend, tax analytics and the trend chart mark the month in progress, so a part-month total is no longer read as a real drop against a complete one.
• Date ranges match your data. The date filter knows how far back the accounts you’ve selected actually reach, so you can’t unknowingly chart a period that starts before your data does.

Cloud connections

• See every subscription and account at a glance. Each connection shows a one-line summary — what’s healthy, what’s rate-limited, what’s on your billing export — with a details view listing each subscription or account, where its cost comes from, how far its history reaches, and its current status.
• Add an AWS Cost & Usage Report at any time. Previously the report could only be entered while creating the connection; adding one later meant deleting and rebuilding it. You can now set, change or remove it whenever you like, and we verify access to the bucket before saving anything.
• Set up billing exports from the start. The connection wizard offers the export option up front, with a link to the setup guide.
• The same tenant or organisation can’t be connected twice. A duplicate connection is caught before it’s created, rather than quietly splitting your cost across two entries.
• Accounts with no cost data are marked as such. They’re greyed out in the scope filter instead of silently returning nothing.

Reliability

• Azure rate limiting is handled properly. When Azure asks us to wait, we back off and retry later rather than holding a scan open — and a subscription already covered by your billing export is no longer reported as failed just because a top-up was throttled.
• Connecting one cloud no longer re-syncs the other. Adding an AWS organisation used to trigger a full Azure refresh as well, spending your Azure quota on data that was already current.
• Expired sessions sign you out properly. An expired session used to load the portal empty while still showing you as signed in.
• Recovering from a dropped connection reloads your data, instead of leaving the page blank once the server is back.

Everyday details

• Something needs your attention? You’ll know. If a subscription or account stops syncing for a reason someone has to fix, Settings carries a notification and names the problem — no more finding out by chance.
• Copy any identifier in one click. Subscription and account names and IDs in Cost Explorer, Spend and Cost Comparison have a copy button, which copies the full value even where the display is shortened.
• IDs shown alongside names in groups. Group views list the subscription ID and account number next to the display name, so similarly named accounts are easy to tell apart.

Security

• Dependency updates. All known vulnerabilities reported against our web dependencies have been resolved.

Two moments everyone passes through — creating an account, and reaching the end of a plan — now behave the way you’d expect.

Signing up

• Your email, entered once. Creating an account goes straight to sign-up instead of asking for your address and then asking again.
• Details after you’re in. Your name and company are collected once you’re signed in, so everyone gets the same start no matter how they arrived.

When a plan ends

• A trial that ends says so plainly. Clear wording, your plan options in front of you, and a direct line to our team if you need more time to evaluate.
• Account settings stay open. If a subscription lapses, you keep access to your own account settings.
• You can see which account you’re in. The expiry screen names the signed-in account and offers a way to sign out.

Connecting a cloud is the first thing you do in CloudOptify, so we rebuilt it end to end — from the first screen you land on to the moment your dashboards fill with data.

Connecting is now a guided flow

• Two clear steps instead of one. Enter your credentials and choose Next — we verify the connection against your cloud before going anywhere. If verification fails you stay put with the actual reason, so you can never end up with a saved-but-broken connection.
• Pick what to analyse, in the same flow. Step two lists the subscriptions or linked accounts we discovered, with search and select-all. At least one must be chosen before you can save — no more “connected successfully” followed by an empty dashboard because nothing was ever selected.
• A first-run experience worth the name. With nothing connected yet, the connections page now opens on a proper welcome: what happens, how long it takes, and one clear action per cloud — rather than a bare form with the important button below the fold.

Watch your first sync happen

• After you save, CloudOptify shows a live setup screen while your first scan runs: which stage it’s on and how many accounts have synced so far. When it finishes you get an explicit “First scan complete” confirmation and go straight to your populated dashboard.
• If a scan can’t complete — almost always a missing permission on the cloud side — we now say so plainly and name what to grant (Azure: Cost Management Reader and Reader; AWS: ce:GetCostAndUsage), with a one-click Retry once you’ve fixed it. Previously a failed first scan looked the same as an empty one.
• Connecting AWS? We call out up front that Cost Explorer publishes on roughly a 24-hour delay, so early AWS figures trailing Azure is expected rather than alarming.

Improving scanning guards for new connections

• Newly added clouds are scanned right away. If your organisation already had data, a tenant or AWS account added later wasn’t picked up for an immediate scan — it waited for the next scheduled run, and on plans without automatic refresh it could wait indefinitely. New accounts now sync as soon as you add them, while an established workspace stays usable in the background instead of being blocked behind a setup screen.
• Re-connecting a cloud we’ve already scanned is now explained. Removing and re-adding a connection doesn’t discard your history — scan records belong to your organisation, not to a connection. You’ll now see confirmation that the connection succeeded, what data we already hold, and exactly when your next scan is due, instead of a silent no-op.

This release focuses on everyday polish and enterprise-grade access management.

• A more user-friendly portal. We’ve streamlined the interface across the app — cleaner layouts, clearer status and provisioning labels, and record views that stay readable in both light and dark themes. Long lists (broadcasts, Terms acceptances, announcement logs, and the Cloud Spend Guard overview) now load in pages of 50 with instant search and filters, so finding a specific user, organization, or event takes seconds instead of scrolling.
• Faster, snappier experience. Under-the-hood optimizations trim load times and keep large tables responsive as your data grows.

Identity & Access Management

• Microsoft Entra ID group sync — now a first-class provisioning mode. Map your Entra security groups to CloudOptify roles and have access granted automatically at sign-in, with the highest matching role winning. New Entra Group Sync-Only mode locks provisioning to your directory: manual invites are disabled and membership follows your groups.
• Clearer SCIM & Entra provisioning. SCIM and Entra group sync now sit side by side with mutually-exclusive “only” modes, so it’s always obvious how members get access. Each member is tagged with its source — manually invited or SCIM synced — for at-a-glance auditing.

Nothing here changes your access or pricing — every existing feature keeps working exactly as before.

• Fixed a small rounding drift where dashboard totals could differ by a few cents from the cloud provider’s native figure. Every view now converts currency from a single shared exchange-rate source, so totals match to the cent.
• Fixed Savings Potential to normalize each finding to a common currency before summing — mixed-currency estimates are now correct everywhere they appear (home, custom views, reports).
• Improved the Spend Trend chart with a currency-adaptive value axis and cleaner Split view.

• Cost by Region — spend broken down by geographic region across Azure and AWS, with normalized region names and explicit Global / No region buckets. Click a row for its per-service breakdown.
• Tax Analytics — a FinOps dashboard for tax and credits: effective rate, pre-tax vs. net, per-provider split, and a monthly trend.

Both are Enterprise features and honor the global filter, date range, and display currency.
